Who is Sean Levesque?

Why the Interest in Architecture?

Picture
From an early age I have always loved to create things- Lego’s were a staple of my life for as long as I can remember. I was always looking for some excuse to draw something, to design something, or to even build something. When I was not physically making something, I was thinking about what I could make in the future. And not just buildings, my creations ranged anywhere from spaceships to comic book characters to God knows what else.

This passion has carried on throughout my life.

The particular goal to become an architect came to fruition my freshman year of high school when I took my first drafting class, aptly named “Basic Technical Drawing.” It combined everything I liked into one class; drawing, desire for perfection, and a challenge. This single class pointed me in the direction in which to head for the rest of high school and beyond. This basic course gave me the design knowledge to complete my Eagle Scout project and instilled in me the dedication and discipline that is required in the architecture field, traits that have influenced my performance in core classes.

When I transferred to Coventry High School, I had the opportunity to expand upon my drafting skills and overall construction knowledge. I took numerous CAD classes, wood shop classes and a construction class between my sophomore and junior years. Currently, I am taking an architecture class this year, which is the class that so far is drawing on everything I have learned throughout high school.

Besides the fact that I love looking and studying interesting buildings, the goals that I have set for myself come from something more, something that I developed years ago playing with some Lego blocks. It has become clear to me that studying architecture in college is the best path. I want to expand on the basic knowledge that learned in high school and enter a career that I know I will love simply because enjoy the challenge of creating something new and original.
